The Large Animal Medical Center is one of the leading veterinary medical education centers in Iowa. It is a part of the College of Veterinary Medicine of Iowa State University. The Large Animal Medical Center specializes in diagnosing and treating equine diseases. It provides anesthesiology, cardiology, radiology, ophthalmology, neurology, oncology and pathology services. Founded in 1879, the College of Veterinary Medicine is one of the oldest public veterinary colleges in the United States. The college has an enrollment of more than 400 students. It offers graduate degree programs in veterinary pathology and biomedical and veterinary clinical sciences. The College of Veterinary Medicine is accredited by the Council of Education (COE) of the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA).
