Founded in 1925, Hawkeye Downs Speedway was originally a dirt track racing facility. In 1989, the track was upgraded to feature paved one-quarter and one-half mile oval tracks, paved pits, an enclosed technical building and inspection area, a MUSCO broadcast lighting system, electronic message board, full concession facilities and a transponder timing and scoring system. The speedway hosts a variety of motor racing events, including the ASA late model series, USAC sprints and midgets, IMCA summer series, Mid-American stock car series, Mid-American super trucks, Auto Value super sprints, HOSS winged sprint cars, the McLeold gold star series, NASCAR-Remax series, American IndyCar series, and ASA and UMARA midgets. Hawkeye Downs Speedway is part of the Hawkeye Downs Fairgrounds multipurpose facility in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
