Headquartered in Cherokee, Iowa, First Cooperative Association has branches throughout the state. Each one provides storage for many harvested products for Iowa farmers. The branch in Marcus, Iowa, is one of the oldest cooperatives in the United States. Formed in 1887, it was recognized as an important link along the railroad lines between Dubuque and Sioux City. The branch in Aurelia, Iowa, is one of the biggest storage locations for First Cooperative Association. Its total storage capacity is nearly 4 million bushels. Other branch locations have crews ranging from two to a dozen employees. First Cooperative Association has nearly 20 locations and was formed in 1997.
