History
Many residents of Orange City still remember when this building, constructed in the early 1900's, was called the Sunrise Hatchery. They recall with fondness coming here with their parents to see the baby chicks and sometimes buy a few to take home. At some point in the mid 1950's, the poultry market became depressed, and the Sunrise Hatchery was purchased and transformed into a restaurant. The original brick walls, ceiling, and hard wood floors were carefully restored during the process. In this latest rennovation, we have sought to enhance the original beauty while introducing some new touches. The addition to the north holds new restrooms, an office, a cozy party room with a fireplace, and a expansive catering kitchen. We hope you enjoy the blend of the old and the new during your visit to the Downtown Grille!
