Camp Courageous of Iowa, founded in 1972, is open year-round and built on 80-acres of land with 14 buildings and serves more than 5,000 campers every year. The camp offers recreational activities for individuals with disabilities, as well as their families. It provides opportunities for social and personal growth in a supportive environment. Camp Courageous is certified by the American Camping Association. The camp offers various activities, including archery, arts and crafts, bocce ball, canoeing, caving, climbing wall, creative dramatics, and cross-country skiing. It also provides evening activities, fishing, group initiative course, gym activities, hiking, nature and environmental education, and outdoor cookery. Its facilities also include overnight camping, overnight canoe trip, rock climbing, ropes course, snow activities, and large group activities and games, such as volleyball, basketball and swimming.
