The retreat center was established in 1960 and is operated by the Archdiocese of Dubuque. The retreat house offers preached and individually directed retreats, spiritual direction, workshops, seminars, meetings and private space for prayer and quiet. It is in the Cedar River Valley on 75 acres. This is a place one is able to walk, pray and be quiet with the intention of rejuvenating the spirit. American Martyr Retreat House was dedicated to three of the early North American martyrs by Archbishop Binz who led the creation of the house.
