The Yorktown Fire Department has been proudly serving the residents of Yorktown and Mt. Pleasant Township since 1913, providing a range of services including emergency medical services, hazardous materials response, disaster mitigation, public education, and field trips. They are also one of the few volunteer fire departments that offer technical rescue services such as rope rescue, water rescue, vehicle machinery extrication, confined space rescue, trench collapse rescue, and building collapse rescue.
With around 35 dedicated members, the department covers an area of 30 square miles and serves approximately 11,000 residents. Starting out as a firefighting service, they have expanded their capabilities to meet the evolving needs of the community, ensuring the safety and well-being of the town and its inhabitants.
