Mount Pleasant Township Community School has its office in Yorktown, Ind. The superintendent and a board of school directors administer the district. It is a four-school district, comprised of Pleasant View Elementary School offering classes in grades kindergarten through two, Yorktown Elementary School offering classes in grades three through five, Yorktown Middle School offering classes in grades six through eight, and Yorktown High School offering classes in grades nine through 12. The total enrollment is more than 2,300 students. Its courses follow the requirements of the state education board, and the core subjects include English language arts, science, computer studies, social science and mathematics. It provides Internet access to all classrooms, and has a comprehensive technology professional development program for staff. Mount Pleasant Township Community School encourages its schools to offer a wide range of extracurricular activities, including sports, such as football, softball, basketball and volleyball.
