History
The Landing at Fort Harrison is built on the historic site of Fort Harrison. Fort Harrison served as a forward frontier fortress, and was named after William Henry Harrison, who during the War of 1812, served as the General of the U.S. Army. In 1840 Harrison was elected as the 9th President of the United States of America. The Terre Haute Lodge #86 Benevolent & Protective Elks purchased the property and established a private country club in 1925. An 18 hole golf course was constructed overlooking the beautiful Wabash River. The 22,000 square foot club house consisted of a restaurant, lounge, and banquet center. In 1959 the Elks added an 8 lane bowling alley, and later in 1997 added a state of the art swimming pool. In the summer of 2008, the property was again sold to a group of professionals collectively called the Vigo Hospitality Group, LLC. The property was then named
