Dr. Shekar Narayanan is a board-certified colon and rectal surgeon. He also serves as the medical director of surgical oncology for Community Health Network MD Anderson Cancer Center. Dr. Narayanan specializes in diagnosis and surgical and non-surgical treatment of anal, colon, and rectal diseases and conditions. Dr. Narayanan has performed several statewide firsts, including Indiana’s first sacral nerve stimulator implant for fecal incontinence, stapled transanal rectal resection (STARR) and the first successful robotically assisted colon operation. He holds a medical degree from Finch University of Health Sciences at Chicago Medical School and completed his general surgical residency and internship at Cleveland Clinic. His fellowship in colon and rectal surgery was completed at Colon and Rectal Clinic of Orlando. Dr. Narayanan is a fellow of the American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons and American College of Surgeons and a member of the Indiana State Medical Association. In his free time, he enjoys basketball, golf, travel, and spending time with his wife and three children.
