HistoryOriginally formed in 1950 by a group of volunteer musiciand and music enthusiasts, the LSO presented its first performance in January of 1951. Over the course of time, the LSO has become the cultural standard-bearer in the Lafayette community. We now boast a 24 member Board of Directors, full-time Executive Director and administrative staff, a full-time professional conductor, and en ensemble of as many as 80 paid musicians.SpecialtiesSince 1951, the Lafayette Symphony has been committed to enhancing the cultural vibrancy of our community by fostering creativity, engaging the public, and inspiring a love of music through live symphonic performances and educational outreach.
