Founded in 1849, the Noble County Sheriff's Department provides a range of police protection services to the residents of Noble County in Indiana. It operates enforcement, jail, communication, administration and building maintenance divisions. The department operates a communication center that features the Geographical Information System (G.I.S.) which uses a combination of aerial photography and master addressing file to locate incoming and outgoing calls. The Noble County Sheriff's Department maintains various specialized teams to handle different crisis situations. It operates the Sheriff's Underwater Recovery Team (S.U.R.T.), which takes care of emergencies in and around water. The department s K-9 unit includes sniffer dogs that are trained in drug detection, tracking, apprehension, officer protection and building searches.
