HistoryFor years, the owners of the guest house -- two college professors -- watched neighbors come and go in the potentially beautiful Prairie-style house next door that had been converted long ago into a three-unit rental property. With an out-of-town owner, it wasn't getting the attention it needed -- so when it came up for sale, they bought it and began making improvements. After several years of renting to year-round tenants, the owners furnished one apartment and started offering it for stays as short as a single night and soon found they were turning away many would-be guests connected to Earlham College, who were drawn by the location, just three blocks from the college. So when the long-time tenants in the other two apartments moved out, those apartments were converted into guest apartments as well.SpecialtiesStay in a tastefully furnished, fully equipped private apartment for less than what you'd pay for just a room at most area B&Bs. Breakfast foods, snacks and an easy-to-prepare arrival-night dinner are provided, and the owners live right next door. The guest house is located across the street from a wooded public park with playground and basketball court. Each apartment has a full kitchen and use of on-site laundry facilities.
