History
Las Casas was founded by husband and wife, David and Jenny Durica. After spending extended periods of time traveling and volunteering throughout the Highlands of Guatemala, they developed relationships with local artisans. Upon time to return home to Indianapolis, David and Jenny brainstormed ways to maintain strong relationships and involvement with the villages. Fair trade became the avenue to support the livelihood and skilled craftsmanship demonstrated by the artisans, and thus, the motto to 'make life fair' was born.
Specialties
Las Casas specializes in hand-made, cultural arts from indigenous Mayan artisans from Guatemala. And, it's all fair trade! Las Casas supports the indigenous artisans in an effort to make life more fair for the impoverished communities, and to assist in preserving their cultural art of back-strap weaving.
