The Indiana Council continues to work in association with IAH while both groups consider the degree of autonomy that the Indiana Council will ultimately assume. Indiana Association of Historians ( IAH ). founded in 1980, is dedicated to the study and enjoyment of history. The IAH brings together educators, scholars, genealogists, archivists, public historians, librarians and the interested public in the pursuit of history. With significant developments in the structure and funding of education in Indiana, the IAH offers a place and opportunities for discussion among historians on how best to assure that history regains a role in the curriculum at all levels of education and that it remains strong in the pursuit of graduate studies and as a proven and sought-after preparation for successful careers in education, the academy, and positions of consequence in the public, private, and not-for-profit sectors.
