Founded in 1948, Heartland Christian Center ( formerly Valparaiso Assembly of God ) has grown from a small church of 15 to a thriving community of close to 800 believers. Dr. Phil & Rhonda Willingham answered God's call to pastor HCC, then a congregation of 60 people, in November of 2000. Since that time, the church has experienced tremendous blessings with the addition of a new Worship Center, Christian Education wing, children's ministry wing, and, most importantly, hundreds of individuals to the family of God! Pastor Phil and our leadership team believe that God would have us to be an extension of Christ to Valparaiso and our surrounding communities. Specifically, we believe that we exist to be a light for our community, a place where individuals can find the bridge to God ( His Son ), a hospital for the hurting, a training center for believers, a worship center for all God's saints, a home for future generations and a reminder of the reward that awaits us at the end of the Christian journey. Our mission is to accomplish these purposes as the body of Christ by touching the heart of God, healing the heart of man and reaching the heart of the world. Heartland Christian Center is a part of the Assemblies of God cooperative fellowship. The Assemblies of God is a protestant fellowship with an emphasis on Pentecost and evangelism. We believe that God is alive and at work today, and that we can know Him personally through faith in His Son, Jesus Christ. For more information on the Assemblies of God fellowship, visit www.ag.org.
