Established in 1813, the Gibson County Sheriff's Department is a full-service, community-oriented law enforcement agency that preserves peace and safety and safeguards constitutional rights. It undertakes various criminal cases and works with other state, local and federal agencies to ensure public safety and exchange of information between law enforcement officers and the public. The Gibson County Sheriff's Department supports Drug Abuse Resistance Education (D.A.R.E.), which is an international education program that seeks to prevent the usage of illegal drugs, gang activities and violent behavior. The department maintains a corrections division that operates a 100-bed jail and detention center that is accredited by the National Commission on Correctional Health Care. The Gibson County Sheriff's Department is located in Princeton, Ind.
