Franklin United Methodist Community, founded by the Methodist Church of Indiana in the early 1950s, isa continuing care community located in Franklin, Ind. Its 120-acre campus offers more than 600 residents a variety of living options, such as independent homes and apartments, assisted living apartments, a comprehensive health care center and specialized Alzheimers' disease and dementia care. It provides the services of a podiatrist, psychiatrist, dentist, orthopedist, internist and a consulting pharmacist, 24-hour nursing care, laboratory, X-ray and rehabilitation services. Nursing personnel are available to help with the daily activities of dressing, taking medications, personal laundry, delivery of mail and bathing assistance. Its health center provides more than 100 beds in semiprivate and private rooms with 24-hour total licensed nursing care and physical, occupational and respiratory therapies. The special care unit at the Franklin United Methodist Community is designed specifically for residents who have Alzheimer's disease and other dementia.
