History
This church has always been a part of cooperative programs with other churches in Crown Point. Before any churches were built, various denominations worshiped together in the log county courthouse. There have been progressive dinners, combined services for Good Friday, Memorial Day, and Thanksgiving Day, and shared Vacation Bible Schools. In 1949, congregations of the St. John's Evangelical Church and the Methodist Church combined for church services when the ministers went on vacation. The Presbyterian and Methodist Churches shared an organist for a short period of time in the early 1940's. During the Korean War all the churches agreed to ring their bells at 7:00PM to remind the citizens to pray for peace. In 2011 a memorial was erected on our southwest corner to honor those who died on September 11, 2001.Community services were held and attended by many from the armed services, police and fire departments of surrounding communities and other citizens.
