History
Founded in 2001 by a group of arts benefactors and enthusiasts, the Indianapolis Museum of Contemporary Art (iMOCA) is the leading Indiana institution focused entirely on showcasing art being made today by practicing contemporary artists. Its mission is to bring contemporary art exhibitions and programs to the community, to stimulate minds and inspire new discoveries, and to demonstrate vital connections between visual culture and everyday life. This mission is brought to life through exhibitions and community-engaged public art projects that inspire in-depth conversations around meaningful and timely contemporary topics. iMOCA curates a mix of exhibitions featuring nationally-recognized contemporary artists, alongside support for the best emerging regional and local talent with exhibition opportunities and professional development.
