Dr. Alexander Augustyn specializes in the treatment of cancer with radiation therapy. By leveraging his training experience at the top two cancer centers in the country – MD Anderson and Memorial Sloan Kettering – Dr. Augustyn is able to deliver leading edge and personalized treatment options. He has a special interest in head and neck, thoracic and genitourinary cancers, stereotactic body radiation therapy and stereotactic radiosurgery. He is a Community Health Network MD Anderson Cancer Center physician. Dr. Augustyn has led and contributed to over thirty published research projects in basic cancer science topics, clinical trials, and safety/efficacy with the overarching goal of improving outcomes for patients and increasing our understanding of tumor biology. He has presented his work at numerous national and international conferences and has published his research in top journals, including the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, the Journal of Clinical Investigation, and the International Journal of Radiation Oncology, Biology, and Physics. Dr. Augustyn completed his medical degree and PhD at University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center. He completed his radiation oncology residency at University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center. Dr. Augustyn is a member of the American Society for Radiation Oncology, American Association for Cancer Research, American Society of Clinical Oncology, and Radiological Society of North America, and is a reviewer for PLoS One, Advances in Radiation Oncology and Cureus. In his spare time, Dr. Augustyn enjoys traveling and spending time with wife and two golden retrievers. He is a Chicago sports fanatic. Dr. Augustyn is fluent in Polish.
