This Greek Orthodox congregation started in 1951 in Chicago's Humboldt Park neighborhood, then bought this property in Niles in the 1970s. It built a school building in 1984 and the church in 1988. Rev. Dean Botsis, the pastor, has been with the congregation since 1982.
Sunday school is provided for children ages 4 and up, and bible study is offered weekly. There are programs for school-age children and college-age and post-college young adults. The church sponsors Boy Scouts and may soon sponsor Girl Scouts.
The church offers Greek school for children from 4:30 to 6:30 pm, Tuesdays through Fridays, and from 9am to noon on Saturdays. It also offers Aristotle Greek Preschool from 9 am to 1 pm weekdays. Its website is www.aristotlegreekschools.com.
Every summer, Greek families come from all over the Chicago area to attend St. Haralambos' Big Greek Food Fest, usually held in July.
