SSI was founded in 1981 by current president, Pam Rincker, and is located in Shelbyville, Illinois. The company was incorporated in 1988 with Rincker and three additional employees sharing in the ownership. SSI's initial line of software products was DOS-based and included modules for accounting, formulation, nutrient recommendations and field mapping. The first suite of Windows-based products was introduced in 1996 under the brand name of Agvance. In 1997, SSI formed an LLC with Helena Chemical Company after being selected as the vendor to provide software to all of Helena's retail and wholesale locations throughout the United States. Two years later, SSI landed a contract with GROWMARK, Inc to provide software for 400 of their member company locations. In 2005, JR Simplot Company selected Agvance as the primary software to run their ag retail and distribution business. Over the last 10 years, SSI has continued to expand the Agvance product line which now includes modules for grain, energy, motor fuel, patronage, logistics management and other add-on tools to compliment their core product offering. Today, the Agvance software is implemented in over 2200 agribusiness locations throughout the USA and Canada. SSI has a proven track record of successful implementations and a customer satisfaction rate that is unmatched in the industry.
