Quincy Garbage/Recycling is operated by the residential services department of the Quincy, Ill., government. Garbage, recyclables and yard waste are all collected once a week, all on the same day. Yard waste is collected March through December, and garbage and recyclables are collected year-round, regardless of weather. The city offers yard waste collection services because leaf burning is not allowed within city limits. Accepted materials for recycling include newspapers and magazines, steel and tin cans, cardboard, glass containers, aluminum and plastic containers. The residential services department also manages the department of utilities, historic preservation and neighborhood programs.
