The Peoria Friendship House of Christian Service is a strong non-profit organization in the Greater Peoria Area, dedicated to empowering families by providing hope, respect, and guidance towards a path to prosperity. With a holistic approach, they offer wrap-around services and coaching to help individuals and families overcome poverty and improve their circumstances. Collaborating with other agencies, they assist in areas of resources that they do not directly provide, ensuring that their achievement plans and specific goals are accomplished.
Founded in 1951, the Friendship House began as a cooperative effort by the American Baptist Church and the local Council of Churches. Over the years, they have grown to serve nearly 150 families and provide over 23,000 contacts. With a new building that houses their comprehensive services, including a commercial kitchen, offices, meeting space, classrooms, and a full-size gymnasium, the Peoria Friendship House continues to enhance the lives of Peorians through a variety of programs, thanks to the support of their 800 Club members and generous donors.
