The Palatine Fire Department is a full-service organization located approximately 15 miles northwest of O Hare International Airport. The department responds to more than 7,000 combined fire and emergency medical service calls annually. It offers fire suppression, emergency medical services, extrication, dive rescue, hazardous materials, technical rescue and bike medics. The Palatine Fire Department protects more than 66,000 people within a 14-square-mile area. It is also actively involved with fire departments in surrounding communities. Three battalion chiefs, assisted by three captains, oversee three duty shifts of 30 personnel responding from five fire stations.

Huntley Fire Protection District

This location is acts as the Huntley Fire Department's headquarters and is also its oldest station. Located in the downtown area, Fire Station #1 holds the administrative offices and conducts community training. The Huntley Fire Protection District covers a 55 mile area that includes the village of Huntley, portions of the Village of Algonquin, Hampshire, Lake in the Hills, portions of unincorporated Kane and McHenry counties and a nine mile stretch of Interstate 90. The fire department is in the process of building a fourth station on Square Barn Road in Algonquin that is expected to be completed by late 2011.

Palatine Fire Department Station 83

Palatine Fire Department Station 83 is close to Route 53 and often responds to traffic accidents that occur on the state route. Station 83's equipment includes a quint engine, an ambulance and a reserve engine. This is one of five Palatine Fire Department stations.

Lake Zurich Rural Fire Protection District Station #3

The Lake Zurich Rural Fire Protection District Station #3 houses the Fire Prevention Bureau. The bureau consists of a fire marshall, three fire inspectors and a secretary. They are responsible for all fire inspections and building plan reviews within the district. Station #3 is adjacent to the Foglia YMCA.
