Otero's Barber Shop may have changed its name a couple of years ago, but it remains Deerfield's place to get a great haircut and talk some sports, just as it has been for more since 1980.
Elias Otero and his staff have a friendly establishment chock-full of sports memorabilia, from pennants and baseballs to bobblehead dolls, even a stuffed fish on the wall.
Whether you love the Cubs or Sox, the Bulls or the Bears, or want to discuss your favorite college team or how the Warriors are doing this season, someone at Otero's will have an opinion, and maybe the inside story.
Otero's is strictly for men and boys, the place where a kid gets his first haircut and becomes a lifelong customer. With the Bulls' training facility in the neighborhood, you never know whom you might run into. Ex-Bull Kirk Hinrich was a regular at Otero's Barber Shop, and he may still be, since his new team, the Wizards, will be in town eventually.
