The Village of Oak Lawn Fire Department was established in 1923 and lives and works by the motto, "The Desire to Serve – The Courage to Act – The Ability to Perform."
The department is comprised of three fire stations located throughout the village, in addition to its main headquarters at Village Hall.
It incorporates all of the latest modern fire suppression techniques and vital medical services. The fire department offers a full menu of fire prevention programs for children, adults and seniors. Fire personnel visit schools, senior centers and other organizations and institutions promoting fire safety and awareness. The department also conducts free fire safety checks, inspecting potential hazards and smoke alarm systems, at homes and businesses throughout the village.
In addition to to responding to fire and medical emergencies, the fire department conducts specialized rescue and hazardous material operations.
