History
Northbrook Community Synagogue was founded in 2011 following the merger of three storied and successful synagogues in the north shore Chicago area. Formed from Adas Yehuda v'Shoshana (or AYSH) of Northbrook, Northbrook Congregation Ezra Habonim and Maine Township Jewish Congregation of Des Plaines, Northbrook Community Synagogue was founded with strength in numbers and in spirit. In 2012, Northbrook Community Synagogue hired its first Rabbi to lead the congregation and Rabbi Braun has been with the congregation to this day. Our building, originally home to AYSH, was completed in 1997. Our building is dedicated in honor of Rabbi Julius and Rose Weisbach and Milt and Gladys Goldstein. Thanks to the tireless work of our small but dedicated staff, the building has never looked better.
