Mark Twain Elementary School offers a range of educational programs to more than 190 students in preschool and kindergarten. The school conducts classes in art, library, music and physical education. It administers the Title I program, as well as provides food and health services. The school also offers special education classes to students with physical and learning disabilities. It operates a parent-teacher association that conducts several fundraising events and programs. In addition, Mark Twain Elementary School organizes a variety of events, including picture day and Labor Day celebrations. Located in Charleston, Ill., the school is a part of Charleston Community School District 1, which governs various elementary, middle and high schools and was founded in 1867.
