The Lifeskills Training Center for Children with Autism, a branch of Little Friends, Inc., a private, non-profit organization designed for children with autism and other developmental disabilities, is actually a green, three-bedroom house on Bloomingdale Road. The Lifeskills Training Center serves as a place for a small group of children who are diagnosed with autism to live during the weekdays and develop skills like grooming, doing household chores and improving communication. It's also a place where children with autism can discover what kind of recreational activities they enjoy. Children who qualify for the Lifeskills Training Center can take medication orally and are not a danger to others but are unable to be taken care of full-time by their parents. They spend the weekdays at the Lifeskills Training Center and the weekends at home. Also, families must live within one hour of the Glen Ellyn center to apply.
