History
Formerly known as Child Care Center of Evanston, our organization was established in 1944 by the Woman's Club of Evanston, initially providing the growing number of working mothers with much needed childcare during WWII. Families began entering the center's doors on July 1, 1944 at the Bethel A.M.E. Church welcomed by teacher Lula Flurnoy. As the center began to outgrow this site in the late 1950's, volunteers and members of the community raised $125,000 to purchase the building at our current location: 1840 Asbury Ave, Evanston.
