In 1958, the Illinois state government founded the Lake County Forest Preserve District to protect and upkeep the natural resources of the region. The efforts made to preserve a sense of authenticity for the regions ladscape is one that requires all hands on deck. Government, non-profit and community groups all work tirelessly with the Lake County Forest Preserve District to expand, restore and improve the importiant midwest landscape.
