Illinois Wesleyan University, established in 1850, is an independent liberal arts university offering a variety of graduate degree programs to more than 2,000 students. The university consists of the college of liberal arts; the college of fine arts that include schools of art, music and theater arts; and the school of nursing. The university offers courses in accounting, anthropology, biology, business administration, chemistry, cognitive and computer science, economics, English, environmental studies and French, German and Spanish. It also provides programs in Greek and roman studies, international business, philosophy, political science, psychology, sociology and risk management and financial services. The sports activities offered by the university include baseball, basketball, cross country, swimming, soccer, golf, tennis, softball, and track and field. The university offers various services to students, such as academic advising, career counseling, financial planning assistance, and lodging and dining facilities. Illinois Wesleyan University has a more than 80-acre campus located in Bloomington, Ill.
