Illinois & Midland Railroad is a subsidiary of Genesee & Wyoming, a provider of rail freight transportation and support services. It functions as a holding company with subsidiaries that own and operate regional freight railroads. It owns or has interests in more than 50 railroads in five countries, including the United States, Canada, Mexico, Bolivia and Australia. Its revenues are generated primarily from the movement of freight over track owned or operated by its railroads. It integrates its experience and with regional rail systems. Genesee & Wyoming s subsidiary, Rail Link, provides freight car switching and rail-related services to more than 30 industrial customers, operates over 25 of its short-line railroads and serves several U.S. ports. Illinois & Midland Railroad maintains a location in Springfield, Ill.
