Founded in 1949, Seymour of Sycamore manufactures aerosol and bulk paint coatings and chemicals for automotive, industrial, marine and hardware markets and many specialty products. Founder Ed Seymour devised a novelty spray gun to demonstrate an aluminum paint he had created for painting steam radiators. Based on the same principle as spray deodorizers and insecticides, the conveyance featured a small can of paint packaged with an aerosol propellant and fitted with a spray head. Though intended to show sales prospects how the paint would look when applied to surfaces, the aerosol sprayer proved so popular that Seymour borrowed a few thousand dollars from a local bank to develop this revolutionary idea. The company distributes its products throughout the United States as well as other countries throughout the world. Its products are manufactured in-house from formulation to production to package labeling. Seymour of Sycamore is located in Sycamore, Ill.
