Since 1968, the Gateway Foundation has provided effective drug and alcohol abuse treatment in community-based and corrections settings for people without financial resources. Each year, the foundation helps more than 32,000 adult and adolescent clients reclaim their lives. The nonprofit organization offers substance abuse treatment services for adults and adolescents, residential and outpatient services, dual diagnosis and mental health services and corrections-based communities. The National Commission on Correctional Healthcare honored Gateway Foundation in 2002 with the National Program of the Year award. The Chicago-based Gateway Foundation has community-based programs throughout Delaware, Illinois and Texas and corrections-based programs throughout Illinois, Missouri, New Jersey and Texas.
