In 1994, FPM stamped its mark on the Rockford, Ill., area with the acquisition of Ipsen Commercial Heat Treating. With continuous mesh belt processing, automated pusher, automated induction hardening of fasteners along with the patented Nitrotec surface treatments, the Cherry Valley plant has carved a niche in specialized, high-volume processing. FPM Heat Treating was founded in 1979 to provide heat treating to the Chicago-area manufacturing community. From a modest beginning, FPM has grown to be one of the nation's largest commercial heat-treating companies. FPM offers a wide variety of heat-treat processes, servicing more than 3,000 customers from the Midwest and surrounding states. It has teams of atmosphere heat- treating practitioners and metallurgists and knows how to control the many process variables to satisfy challenging original equipment manufacturers and military specifications.
