WHO IS EVANSTON AWNING Evanston Awning Company has been a family-owned business since 1931, and is the only direct successor to Hunzinger Canvas Products formerly of Chicago, Illinois. Edward Hunzinger, Jr. has been president since 1981, and became owner in 1992. His family history in the awning industry dates back to the mid-1800s and is proud to say that they are "one of the top awning companies in the Chicago area." Evanston Awning prides itself on its reputation, quality and professional service. Evanston Awning Company is a charter member of the Industrial Fabrics Association International ( ifai.com ), and Ed Hunzinger is a certified Master Fabric Craftsman through that association. Ed was a recent past board member of the Awning Division, now known as the Professional Awning Manufacturers Association, and past president of the Mid-America 8 Canvas Products Association in Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky and Missouri. Ed remains active in both of these associations, while his wife, Ann, now serves as a director on the MA8CPA board. These associations have established industry standards and guidelines, in which Evanston Awning is proud to have helped develop over the years. In recent years, Evanston Awning became winners of many different regional and national awards in design and manufacture of residential, commercial and industrial awnings, canopies and related products. The scope of our all-custom residential work covers: window awnings, stationary door awnings, patio/deck canopies, screen rooms, retractable awnings and canopies, with manual or motorized operation. Our all-custom commercial work covers: storefront awnings, back lit awnings, entrance canopies, sidewalk cafe canopies, smokers' enclosures ; specialty awnings and projects for the movie industry, including film, video, and television ; and graphics and signage in various forms for any application.
