Located in Charleston, Ill., Eastern Illinois Area Special Education is a cooperative that serves for the educational needs of all children of 3 to 21 years of age with various physical and mental disorders. The cooperative is also commonly known as EIASE and has been serving more than 5,000 children with special needs since 1962. It is funded through the local, state and federal grants. It provides specialized services through trained special education professionals to the students of various school districts of several counties across the state. The cooperative provides educational instructions, diagnostics, therapeutics and technical support to its member districts' children with disabilities, faculty, parents, administration and community. In addition, Eastern Illinois Area Special Education develops and delivers educational program to the rural communities and also serves the special needs of all the children in the area.
