One of Mokena's lesser-known and smaller schools, Mokena Montessori provides preschool and kindergarteners with a non-traditional, but time-tested, education. With an emphasis on self-directed learning, the Montessori school allows students to pursue their own interests with the guidance of teachers and other students. The school itself is run by two teachers and located in one room of the United Methodist Church, so class size tends to be low, around 12 to 20 students. The regular program is half-day, but there are extended-day programs that end at 2pm.
