Chicago Grammar School opened in 2005 to offer Chicago families the option of a classical liberal arts education at the elementary level. Our classical curriculum is designed to provide depth and variety of content, systematic sequencing, and integration of subject matter. Chicago Grammar School's celebrated its first 8th grade graduation in 2014. Prior to opening CGS, our Head of School, Phillip D. Jackson II was Executive Director of The Cove School in Northbrook, IL, where he became steeped in the research of how to teach students with impaired processing abilities. He acknowledged that much of the research proved valuable for all students and that methods for teaching the disabled student are often good and thoughtful methods for the typical student.
