History
The Change Of Pace originally open in 1975 in the former Pace Hotel on the corner of Lafayette and Calhoun streets here in Macomb. In 1990 with the expansion of the highway, the hotel was demolished and The Ice House Corporation was formed. The building at our present location was purchased, remodeled and expanded to what The Change Of Pace is today. The building itself was originally built as an ice house near the turn of the century. Water would be frozen in what is now our dance floor and cut into blocks for use in ice boxes, the predecessor to modern refrigerators. The blocks were stored in what is currently our main bar area after being packed in saw dust for insulation. Over the years the building has been many other things including a grain storage facility before becoming The Change Of Pace.
