HistoryJade Fortress is a Chinese martial arts and culture academy. That is part of YuZhai International, a Shaolin martial arts group that focuses on teaching Shaolin tradition. Jade Fortress was established in 2003 under the name Precious Sword. Why the name change you might wonder. Our founder Demitri Daniels a 32nd generation Shaolin disciple opened the school to teach his Shaolin lineage. After moving back to China in 2014 he and two of his martial arts training brothers opened an English and Shaolin training school. Though the three all trained in Shaolin they had different masters with three separate lineage. So in order to pay respect to their Shaolin heritage they decided to call their school YuZhai this is the old name for Song mountain. (the mountain that Shaolin is a top) In 2017 Demitri moved back to Champaign IL to keep spreading Shaolin culture. Jade Fortress has affiliate school's part of Yu Zhai International in California and China. Our head instructor is a 32nd generation Shaolin Disciple. We specialize in aiding students in increasing their mind, body, and spirit through traditional physical workout. Not only do we teach self defense, but we also offer a multitude of other classes such as ESL, Chinese, and Spanish language, acting, gymnastics, and Chinese history.
