History
The B&B was establihed to respond to travelers' requests for alternative lodging to the large, impersonal and expensive hotels downtown --a lodging that would provide a spirit of calm, beauty, silence and prayer in the midst of the busy and oft impersonal city.
Specialties
Benedictine B&B offers a comfortable, private retreat within the grounds of a real urban monastery, just south of Chicago's Loop in the city's Bridgeport neighborhood. Monks have been welcoming travelers for over 1500 centuries and you will share in this age old monastic hospitality at the Monastery of the Holy Cross. Tucked away in newly renovated areas of the monastery, whose buildings date to 1850, you will find the modern comforts of home in an inviting, up-to-date setting. Benedictine B&B is one of only three B&Bs located in a monastery in the country, the only one in a modern city.
