The American Association of Medical Assistants, established in 1956, is a nonprofit organization that enables medical assisting professionals to enhance and demonstrate the knowledge, skills and professionalism required by employers and patients. The association promotes effective, efficient health care delivery through optimal use of multi-skilled certified medical assistants. In cooperation with the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs, the American Association of Medical Assistants Endowment facilitates accreditation of medical assisting programs established at the post-secondary level. AAMAE is a curriculum review board for the association.The association awards scholarships to students in medical assisting education programs and provides discounts to members on workshop and seminar fees, self-study courses, credit cards, loans and conventions. The American Association of Medical Assistants has headquarters in Chicago.
