Advanced Medical Transport is a nonprofit community organization governed by a board of health care, business and community leaders that serves the central Illinois area. It operates from a 30,000-square-foot facility in West Peoria, Ill., and a second facility in Pekin, Ill. AMT's corporate headquarters houses administration, patient accounts, communications, fleet service and training/safety. The company operates a fleet of 25 advanced life support ambulances, two of which are specially-equipped critical care/neonatal units. It has a computer-aided dispatch system that locates the paramedic unit nearest to someone needing service and dispatches a unit within 15 seconds. AMT provides an advanced life support emergency response strategy to a multiple jurisdictional area. It provides emergency paramedic service to fire protection districts, townships, municipalities and counties. It also performs scheduled ambulance service to hospitals, skilled nursing facilities and physician's offices. Paramedic standby coverage is provided for numerous public events in a service area that covers more than 300,000 residents in 20-plus communities.
