Established in 1925, the Addison Fire Protection District #1 provides fire and emergency medical services to the citizens of Addison, Ill. It operates three fire stations that are staffed by a paid force of more than 70 personnel. In addition to firefighting activities, the district provides paramedic services with advanced life-support ambulances. The Addison Fire Protection District #1 maintains a fire prevention bureau that is staffed by a full-time director, fire prevention officers and district firefighters. It conducts free blood pressure checks, station tours and child safety seat inspections. The district has a community emergency response team that conducts educational sessions in emergency preparedness, first aid, triage, damage assessment, hazard mitigation, and light search and rescue. The Addison Fire Protection District #1 also manages fire investigation, technical rescue and underwater recovery teams.
