History
The Old Northern Inn was built in 1900 from white pine logs by a speculator who thought a railroad was coming to Priest Lake. He soon lost his shirt, but the enterprising Ida Handy bought the place in 1917 and turned it into a reputable establishment that has been part of the community ever since. In 1993 it was opened in its present form, renovated with a private bath for each room and furnished with antiques from the early days.
Specialties
About half of all visitors are returning for another stay. With just six rooms, our guests have a chance to get to know each other over refreshments in the after and morning breakfast. They also can have privacy. There is seating for 35 on the main deck, and there are more places to enjoy the scene of the lake on the upstairs porch, by the dock, or in seats along the path.
