Friends of Children & Families, Inc is an outgrowth of the highly successful Youth Advocacy Program of the Menninger Foundation of Topeka, Kansas, and is the culmination of over 30 years of research about providing quality care for abused and neglected children. Friends of Children and Families, Inc was originally a part of a nationwide network of foster care homes for abused, neglected and abandoned children. However, in 1985 each geographic area was asked to assume responsibility for establishing its own legal entity for the purpose of managing assets and overseeing programmatic issues. The primary mission and philosophy of Friends of Children and Families, Inc is to provide a nurturing and safe environment for children who have been removed from their homes due to abuse or neglect. Friends of Children and Families, Inc, provides stability so that the children have the opportunity to develop into well adjusted and productive members of society. Friends of Children and Families Inc, is committed to providing services, support, and care for children in need. Friends of Children and Families, Inc, currently operates three {3 residential foster care homes, providing care for children between the ages of six and seventeen, in a family style living arrangement. All the children Friends of Children and Families, Inc are here because they have been removed from their homes due to abuse, neglect or abandonment. Friends employ Family Care Parents who live in the homes on a full time basis and assume the role of caretaker for the children. The goal of these homes is to provide the children a positive and stable environment that allows them to reach their full potential. Friends of Children and Families, Inc, is committed to raising the standard of group home foster care to levels far beyond ordinary expectations.
